Building Your Straw Bale Home (Landlinks Press)

Building Green with Straw Green Home BuildingI know Brian Hodge personally and he is a great guy who is passionate about building and about straw bale in particular.  This book will take you step by step by step along the road of how to put your home together and along the way Brian discusses some of the techniques and materials you may wish to employ.  His son Brad did a lot of the illustrations in the book so it’s a real family affair.

  • This book is highly recommended for all the inside information you will need about foundations, electrical and plumbing installations in straw bale building, and some excellent ‘how to’ information as you go along.
  • Building guidelines and regulations differ from state to state and country to country however, the basics of how to construct a home are pretty much the same the world over.
  • This book is easy to read (and understand), has useful photo’s (black and white) and diagrams and is written by a man who knows construction and straw bale building.
  • The picture on the front? Yep that’s his house and I’ve been to visit it so I know  his knowledge is from research and practical personal experience PLUS he runs ‘how to’ workshops and helps many other people get moving on their very own building green with straw dream.

If you are serious already and know you want to do this but would like a little book to help you along the way, no matter where you live… I recommend this book.
